CD Projekt RED is busy staffing up for Cyberpunk 2, and its latest hiring spree has strongly hinted the highly anticipated sequel will inject some multiplayer antics into the equation.
The job in question is for a Lead Quest Programer and mentions the applicant must have knowledge of “multiplayer network architecture and client-server,” suggesting multiplayer quests are in the pipeline.
Cyberpunk 2’s associate game director, Pawel Sasko, revealed last week during a CDPR REDstream that a large number of the quest team are made up of ex-modders, who impressed the studio so much that they snapped them up to work on Cyberpunk 2. The developer announced in May of last year that the sequel was in pre-production at the time, which means we won’t be seeing the game for a while yet.
Cyberpunk 2077 launched in December 2020 for PS4, PC, and Xbox One and received a dedicated PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release a few years later. Sadly, the last-generation versions of the game were plagued by with bugs and performance issues, but these problems were ironed out in the current-gen editions of Cyberpunk 2077.
CDPR announced in July 2026 that the sci-fi epic had sold over 40 million copies worldwide.
