Old School RuneScape adds a litter of new in-game dogs with its latest quest

Cry “hecc” and let slip the dogs of friendship! We’re twisting this classic Shakespearean line around because Old School RuneScape has released a quest that opens a path to new in-game doggies. Clearly, this is the finest hour for the classic sandbox yet.

This new quest line is called A Ruff Situation, and as Jagex pointed out previously, it will offer up a new storyline involving helping an animal shelter out while also introducing 12 new dog breeds to the game. Players can then find puppy versions of these pets and choose to either feed them in order to grow them up for help in treasure trail steps, or not feed them to keep them in puppy form and just join you on your adventures. Bear in mind, however, that a character killed in the PvP Wilderness will see the puppy companion run away, so don’t bring a puppy to a gankbox zone.

While puppers are certainly a hallmark of this week’s update to OSRS, there is also a new quest on one of the islands in the ocean that lets players talk to crabs (don’t think too hard about it) to take on a quest, as well as a few other specific adjustments. The post also discusses an about face for earlier planned elemental amulet changes and a sneak peek at an upcoming series of PvP challenges.

Finally of major note from the game is a video digest that covers several topics of importance. The two devs brought on for this chat talk about plans to hold off on Bronzeman mode as a result of player polling, another excited chat about the upcoming RuneFest event, and a quick look at progress on the Fractured Archive raid, among other things.
